As it was for a lot of folks, the pandemic was rough for me artistically. I almost thought I wasn't a songwriter anymore! But in 2022 my dear friend Jayne encouraged me to record at her studio in Vancouver, World Peach Records, and once I was creating again I realized that nothing could take away that part of me. Being in the studio and making my song snippets come to life is where I feel most like myself. I am grateful to Jayne for her gentle encouragement and loving patience. The song Wave At Me is about my relationship with trees. Some of my best friends are trees. They are all around us, waiting for us to connect with them. I am inspired and strengthened by their slow, steady energy and their connection to everything around them. They teach me about love and about the present moment, every day. In September of 2022 my husband Darren died, suddenly and unexpectedly. I was listening to the masters of the EP the day before he died. He peeked his head into my office while I was listening and said “Oh, that sounds really beautiful.” I treasure that comment in my heart forever. Part of my decision to release this recording now is to help me move forward in my grief and healing process. I am still waiting for Darren to come home.
